Irene (Renee) Chamberlain
It is very sad to have to start with this news but you will all know by now that Renee passed away on the 12th of the month. Such a character cannot be anything other than very sorely missed. Reg would like to thank all the members who turned out in great numbers to pay their respects at the funeral.

Bert Cox Memorial Cup
We will play Cobham in the semi-final at Hesketh Park, Dartford on September 10th and details are up on the notice board. The final and the 3rd & 4th place play-off will be in the afternoon on the same day. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

The Workers & The Hedge
Many thanks to the team of helpers who have done so much work adjacent to the new security fence but in particular - Malcolm Whitehead, Colin Webb, Keith Gall, George Coombs and Malcolm Sanderson who must also get a special mention for his splendid efforts in cutting, what remains of, the hedge. I do not know where he gets the energy from but his hands were going faster than my electric trimmer the last time I saw him !!!

LX League
Last months results were :-
Muirhead (Away) Lost 0 - 10, Queensmead (Home) Won 6 - 4 and Blackheath & Greenwich (Away) Lost 4 - 6
There is just the one fixture left for Alan's team.

Many congratulations to all concerned.
Thanks again to Colin Fazackerley who put together another excellent programme for the day. The lucky programme cash prize draw winners were No.75 - £20 to Tony Willis and No. 81 - £10 to Colin Webb.

Joe & Mary Rowe
Many congratulations to Joe & Mary who celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this month.

Royal British Legion
The second of this years fixtures against the Hayes Branch went well despite a heavy spell of rain at the start but everyone enjoyed themselves, as usual, plus another of Dennis's buffets after (did you say you was cutting back on the food again Den ??). The Legion side just pipped us this time by 9 shots but the big win in the first match swung the two game series in our favour and so we will hold the trophy until we renew hostilities again next year. The money raised on the night, £358.00, was, as usual, split between us and the Poppy Appeal with WWBC getting £179.00 and the Legion's money rounded up to £200.00 on the night by a donation.

North West Kent League
Bearing in mind the slow start to the campaign in Division 4 the squad finished strongly and with a bit more luck we could have been challenging for promotion again! Anyway the final results for this year were :-
Pleasuance Home Lost 2 - 4
Met Police 1 Home Lost 2 - 4
Woolwich & Plumstead Away Won 4 - 2
Kings Home Lost 1 - 5

Autumn Cup
With a bit of support we will try to run this competition again this season starting on th 7th of September and finishing on the 23rd. Details are on the notice board.

PCL League
Only one game during August ; Britannic House (Home) Won 5 - 2

PCL League Knock Out - FINAL !!!
Many congratulations to our lads for fighting their way through to another final. For those of you who are not familiar with this competition all the teams in the PCL enter a team and the aggregate scores of a singles, pairs, triples & fours determines the winners. After defeating HSBC (Away), Old Colfeians (Away) and then Bellingham (Home) in the semi final we now play Metropolitan Police on a neutral ground (Bromley, Plaistow Lane) at 10.00 a.m. on Saturday 3rd of September. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Jubilee League
Only two games for the ladies this month ; Blackheath & Greenwich (Away) Won 6 - 0 and Sidcup (Away) Lost 0 - 6

Animals League
With just two matches left the leaders are the Leopards but they are still in the sights of the Antelopes & the Tigers who are just 2 points behind. Details of the final night and the buffet etc will be displayed on the notice board.

Aggregates
August competition results - 1st John Richardson, 2nd Tony Willis & 3rd Jeanette Whitehead.

Hospital Amenities Pairs
Congratulations to Peter Pearce and Sam Bolt for getting through to the final of this competition. Unfortunately Peter will be on duty in the Cox Cup on 10th September) but Sam has persuaded Bob Radford to take his place. The final will be at Bellingham BC at 10.00 a.m. so if you can't make the Cox Cup perhaps you could get along to Bellingham and cheer them on.

Dennyside
Despite awful weather on the 22nd of the month the Dennyside visited WWBC and along with our own members enjoyed a good afternoon and meal afterwards when the truly magnificent sum of £1,750.00 (!!!) was raised which will be added to the totals raised on Captains Day & Presidents Day so a cheque will be sent to Demelza House very shortly. Well done to all concerned but in particular to Ernie Hay who took on the organisation of the day at the last minute.

President's Day
President Gerry Golder had an excellent day on the 28th and the rink from Old Colfeians certainly enjoyed themselves as the highest winning rink of visitors and Alan Connolly's rink doing likewise for WWBC. A splendid meal was enjoyed afterwards and a total of £260.00 raised on the day has been added to that from Captain's Day and the Dennyside fixture and the incredible total of £2,010.00 will be going to Demelza House. Gerald would like to thank everyone who supported the day and would like to point out that the remainder of the money collected on the day went to the club!

Social Events
The Social Committee are continuing to work extremely hard to keep everyone entertained AND raise money for all the little (and big) jobs that need doing around the club and support the Centenary Fund. The next event will be a race night which is on Friday 9th of September. Please give this your full support if you can. Remember you do not necessarily have to be there on the night as you can sponsor a horse, jockey or one of the races.

BB & DBA Pairs
Les Melville & Ian Way narrowly lost their semi-final of the pairs over at Bromley BC (in the dark!) on the 30th to two players from Petts Wood. Going into the last end all square the opposition put a bowl right on the jack which Ian could barely see let alone hit !!!

100 - Up
The ladies 100-Up competition final was played on the 31st and ended up with Margaret Hewitt beating Barbara Way

2006 Tour
Sadly this has been cancelled due to lack of support.
