Week ending 10th September

Thursday A good win against Petts Wood 1 in the Fred Tyler semi-final and we now meet Bellingham 2 in the final next Thursday at Orpington Excelsior with a 4-00p.m. start. Tuesday Aggregate winners for August - 1st Mike Taylor 2nd Stan Browne 3rd Nadine Johannessen. Well done to all .

Week ending 3rd September

Sunday We retained the Presidents Cup for the third year running beating Eltham. A close game over 3 rinks but the pair of Tony Bartholomew and Geoff Bailey ensured a convincing win. Tuesday A good win for the Men in the Fred Tyler away to R.B.S.1 and we now meet Petts Wood 1 at Bexley Park in the semi-final on the 7th September. Unfortunately our Ladies lost to Borough Green in the semi-final of the Belle Trophy at Bromley, only the pairs winning.

On a sad note Martin and Paulette move to Worthing tomorrow. In their relatively short time at the club they have been superb members actively involved in virtually every aspect of the club and will be sorely missed. We wish them well.

Week ending 27th August

Sunday Another convincing PCL win against Orpington Excelsior 6-1, Our Ladies also won 4-2 in the Jubilee League against the same opposition. Wednesday A good win against Bromley in the Presidents Cup semi-final although they did have several senior players missing. We now play Eltham at home in the final as we are the current holders.

Week ending 20th August

Friday At Leamington Geoff and Ian lost 20-12 to Cambridgeshire in the BE Senior Pairs but their opponents have got to the semi-final where they face Buckinghamshire. Tuesday We beat R.B.S.2 in the Fred Tyler and are now away to R.B.S. 1 or Orpington 1. Monday Unfortunately our ladies having beat our other side in the previous round lost at home to Langley in the Gladys Tyler. Sunday We lost the Cox Cup Divisional Final to Bromley as reported by Andy Smith the Divisional Secretary "Bromley beat West Wickham in the Divisional Final of the Cox Cup on Sunday the final score a win by 11 shots was even closer than the score suggests with misfortune and good bowls over the final ends." However we then went to B & G in the PCL and recorded a 6-1 win.

Week ending 13th August

Monday We received confirmation today that our Division 1 side retained the NWKL Division 1 title and still have 2 games to play. Well done to all. Sunday Unfortunately our L & SC triple lost to Eastleigh Railway at Egham in the semi-final. One down playing the last end we were holding 2 with the last wood to come but a great shot from the ER skipper won the day.

Week ending 6th August

Tuesday At the Aggregates the winners of the July competition were announced and the prizes given. The winner was Wally Filby, one of our new members, for the first time there were three players equal in second place. These were Eileen Evans, Graham Evans and Ray Young. The scores were calculated to two decimal places they could not be separated.

Our two Fred Tyler teams were in action. WW 1 won by 40 shots to 26 against BIBCOS on their artificial green, they will play RBS 2 in two weeks time. Unfortunately WW 2 lost to Danson Park by 42 shots to 33.

Monday The West Wickham Cox Cup 1st team had a great win over Eltham in the Divisional Semi-finals at HSBC. The teams of John Muddle, Bill Mewis, Phil Broomfield and Ian Way and Tony Bartholomew, Mike Flaherty, Malcolm Whitehead and Geoff Bailey struggled in the early ends but drove through to a relatively easy win. They now play Bromley in the Divisional Finals on Sunday 13th August at 10.00 at HSBC.

Both of our Gladys Tyler teams were in action, unfortunately they had been drawn against each other. In a close game WW 2 beat WW 1 and now go forward to play Langley in two weeks.
